Mechanical Design Engineer - Special Projects

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a global industry leader and play a key role in the continued development of its world-leading technology, while enjoying the lifestyle benefits that only South East Queensland can offer.

Established for thirty-six years and admitted into the Australian Export Awards Hall of Fame in 2009 our Toowoomba-based client, Russell Mineral Equipment Pty Ltd (RME), is the acknowledged world leader in grinding Mill Relining Systems. As an original equipment manufacturer, RME’s core competencies include quality design and manufacture as well as global distribution, after-sales service, mill relining and consulting services. Via a network of wholly-owned international subsidiaries, the organisation supports customers in more than 65 countries.

Integral to the ongoing development of the organisation's technology suite, the opportunity now exists for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the team and be involved in all facets of the layout, design and analysis of high-quality mining-related equipment, from concept through to completion of drawings and/or reports.

Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, and working closely with other members of the Engineering Team and broader Engineering Department, in this role you will take responsibility for the detailed design aspects of each unique design/machine within defined time period. In doing so, you may be required to assist in the supervision, training and mentoring of junior Engineers/Draftspersons or other personnel as required and may, in conjunction with the Team Leader, also be involved with coordinating the Engineering resources in terms of short-range planning.

Experience in a quality design engineering (ideally manufacturing) environment, demonstrated proficiency with a 3D modelling application (preferably SolidWorks) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and basic knowledge of material sciences is required. Experience within an innovation context and a basic knowledge of hydraulic principles and design would be a distinct advantage.

A degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering is required and progress towards CPEng/RPEQ accreditation will be well regarded.

Applicants must currently reside, and be permitted to work permanently, in Australia and while all relevant applications are appreciated, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Our client is an equal opportunity employer and relocation assistance within Australia will be considered for the successful candidate.

Situated on the edge of the picturesque Great Dividing Range, less than 1.5 hours west of Brisbane and only two hours from both the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, and with regular flights direct to Sydney and Melbourne, the 'garden city' of Toowoomba is one of South East Queensland’s best kept secrets. This thriving regional community, Australia’s largest inland provincial city with 160,000 residents, offers affordable housing, world-class health, education, recreation and cultural facilities.
